Canyon Oaks

Chico

Canyon Oaks is a gated golf-course community tucked into the foothills on Chico's east side, inside the California Park area east of Bruce Road and north of Highway 32. Two gated entrances open onto quiet, oak-shaded streets where homes were built in phases beginning in the late 1980s — and where vacant parcels still wait for the next custom build.

The homes are predominantly custom, ranging from Spanish-inspired designs with stucco walls and tile roofs to clean-lined contemporary builds. Lots roll with the terrain and vary just as widely, from comfortable single-home sites to parcels of an acre or more, many taking in views across the valley floor to the Coast Range. Mature oaks shade the streets, and the community's north and east edges meet the open space of Upper Bidwell Park, so perimeter homes back onto permanent parkland along Big Chico Creek instead of other houses.

At the center of it all is Canyon Oaks Country Club, a private club whose 18-hole, par-72 championship course was designed by Jim Summers to follow the natural terrain — Bermuda fairways, bentgrass greens, water features and elevation changes framed by mature trees. The clubhouse adds a formal dining room, a members' grill, a driving range and a putting green, making the club the neighborhood's social hub as well as its green heart.

Canyon Oaks sits within the Chico Unified School District, with Sierra View Elementary and Marsh Junior High nearby, and downtown Chico and Chico State are a short drive west. Browse the current Canyon Oaks listings below to see what life behind the gates looks like today.
